Analysis
In Chinese company law and to a lesser extent other regulations, a natural person is a term that is used to distinguish persons from legal entities. This concept is well-known to American law, which is usually specified as an individual, but in maritime or international law contexts tends to define natural person as an individual. (see sample statute) In most legal advice settings, individual will be more comprehensible than the word ‘national’ despite the lack of 1-to-1 correspondence to the Chinese source word.
