In Chinese contract law, a contractual object in refers to the object towards which the legal subject matter of a contract is directed. It appears in some US state civil law codes. Chinese socialist law differs from common and continental law in that fairness is the fundamental condition for supporting the creation of a contract, and has specific requirements for the legal subject matter (provisions) and the object to which those conditions apply, if any.
