Chao Li is a licensed PRC attorney and focuses his work at CBL on English to Chinese contract translation. In addition to his work at CBL and as a Senior Partner at Shanghai Eastao, Chao also teaches two courses on contract translation at a top-five ranked Chinese law school and regularly publishes work on legal translation. He is among Shanghai’s most widely respected linguist-lawyers.
Chao’s extensive translation experience includes the translation of service contracts, commercial and real estate contracts, purchase and sale agreements, articles of association, and attorney’s letters for a variety of high-profile corporate clients, including operating contracts for the Shanghai Disneyland Park. His most recent work includes assisting United States corporate clients with the translation of outsourced manufacturing agreements and software technical services contracts.
Chao is a member of the International Trade Research Committee of Shanghai Bar Association and has over ten years’ experience as a trial attorney representing clients in both criminal and civil litigation, as well as commercial arbitration, and provides counsel and various non-litigation services for corporate clients. Chao leverages his deep experience in China business law to provide clients with precise translations that facilitate the Chinese contracting party’s compliance with their international partners’ expectations.
