Party in Interest

In Chinese civil law, a party in interest is someone who has a direct or indirect interest in the subject matter of a proceeding. Directly interested parties may sue or be sued. While an indirect party in interest does not have a direct interest, the outcome of the litigation may nonetheless negatively affect them, and thus, they may also participate in the litigation.
